The Monthly #4: 2018

The last 2 months have been such a whirlwind, to the extent where I forgot about this post until last week because I thought I had another month left. It’s crazy how fast they’ve gone and how busy they’ve been, but looking back, I felt like I could’ve packed more in there. I’m totally exhausted though, and hoping for a very restful September before the craziness starts up again for my birthday and Christmas.

I haven’t been at work for the majority of the past 2 months, which feels weird but I’ve really loved having so much time to myself to be productive with my blog and go exploring with my boyfriend. We’ve had the best time together and I think this will be one of those posts that I look back on to re-live some of the best memories I’ve made all year. I hope I can do this in chronological order but more often than not, these posts end up a huge mess of milestones and events that happened at different points throughout the month – that seems to be how it’s going and I think we’ll stick with it!

I had 2 weeks off in the middle of July that was supposed to be to take care of Millie whilst my family were on holiday. Unfortunately, they had to cancel their holiday for reasons I’m not gonna get into, but I kept the time off. Just because. We spent some time in Glasgow on a little holiday with my mum and Millie, I spent a lot of time at Max’s house, playing games and watching Netflix in bed, and Max and I also went exploring a few times. We did a photography tour around Edinburgh, that I got for my birthday, and we both loved it. We didn’t get to do everything I had wanted to do during those 2 weeks, but it was the perfect break full of an equal amount of exploring and relaxing – something I am in desperate need of right now. Going back to work, even though it was just for a few days, after this was pretty hard. I had gotten too used to the easy life of not working and just chillin’.

I also got 2 new tattoos in the past 2 months – I won’t talk about them too much here because I’m planning a standalone post where I talk about the whole experience, pain and the meanings behind them (if there is one). I definitely feel satisfied in terms of tattoos, for now, and I’m not planning on getting anymore for a little while. I want to give myself some time to save money and stuff, instead of just blowing it on tattoos all the time…irresponsible or what!

I’ve had a lot of crisis’ these past few months, unfortunately. The first was a creative crisis; I was sick of creating boring content but didn’t know how to up my game whilst maintaining my individuality. It’s an ongoing crisis I think, and I don’t think I’m alone in feeling it judging by the tweets I’ve seen from some other creators, but I’m still not sure how to actually up my game. I’ve been experimenting more with just being raw on Instagram – less editing, less posing, and more on-the-spot iPhone content. This might not be what the brands want but it suits me and my lifestyle better than trying to get amazing camera shots all the time. When you work full-time, it’s not easy!

The second crisis I had was a whole life crisis. Now THAT was fun. I wrote a whole post on it a few weeks ago titled “I don’t know what I’m doing” and I’ve had a lot of support from other people who also don’t know what they’re doing, so we’re all together in this little crisis bubble. Again, I haven’t solved this crisis at all, I’m just making do with what’s going on and trying not to freak out about everything. As I’ve seen so many people say, life isn’t a race. There’s no milestones that we have to achieve by a certain time and everyone’s just doing their best. If I keep telling myself that, it’ll sink in right?

Now the big thing – we went on our summer holiday! The main posts on that will be coming in September – I’ll be covering the topic of travel, in different ways, the whole month! I am very excited about it. Anyway, myself and Max, my instagram boyfriend, went on a little adventure starting in Prague, peaking in Naples and ending in Milan. It was tiring and stressful, but also super fun. I’d never been to any of those 3 places before, neither had Max, so exploring places so new to us and so beautiful was just insane. I ticked off a few bucket list things while we were there, as well as a few on my 21 before 21 list! A run down of all the places we went and what we did, plus costs and general view of the place will be coming very soon!

The final thing I’m gonna touch on is something that happened so quickly, I’m still processing it. Last year, we got a puppy! A little Goldendoodle called Millie, who is not so little anymore. She’s almost 1 now, and my parents decided it was time to get puppy number 2. Enter – Summer. I didn’t think we’d be getting a second dog until way into next year, but one night I was shown a photo of a puppy and the next day I was cuddling her and choosing her name. Crazy. She came home the same day we came home from our holiday, and I am so in love with her. She’s a Labradoodle and she’s currently 2 months old – she’s teeny tiny and best friends with Millie already. If you want to, you can follow them both on instagram HERE. Yes, I made my dogs an Instagram, and what?

And I’m gonna leave it there! My list of things to discuss was a lot longer than this, but I decided to just focus on the really big things instead of the moderately big things. As I said, these past 2 months have been completely crazy!

How has your summer been?
