I’ve had the idea for this post for a little while now (as inspired by THIS post by Bex Robb) and I’ve been stupidly excited about it ever since. I kept putting it off though, because I didn’t have the manpower to get good outfit photos every day of the week and didn’t know how else to go about it. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the first edition of my What I Wore This Week – the casual workwear style – as portrayed through flatlays and selfies. How else are millennial bloggers gonna do outfit shots??
I went casual & comfy today, because it’s Monday and they’re uncomfortable anyway. I sometimes hate wearing outfits like this, they feel so un-creative and very over-worn. But when it’s that early and you haven’t pre-planned your outfit, getting out the door on time is the only thing that matters.
I get asked about this t-shirt a lot, it’s a Jamie Genevieve merch t-shirt. I wear it all the time because it describes me too perfectly. I’ve paired it with some ASOS Farleigh mom jeans and my favourite trainers ever, also from ASOS. If you learn anything from this post, it’s that I shop at ASOS a lot.
Today’s outfit was more practical than stylish, because I got a tattoo! It was on my back so had to make sure it was easily accessible for the artist – I opted for a low back red bodysuit that I normally wear on holiday (because it’s very revealing) and put a slouchy cream knit jumper over the top so I felt more comfortable in public. Plus I’m obsessed with this jumper but get too cold in it in Autumn/Winter, so my only options are cold Spring/Summer days.
Coupled with some comfy black ASOS Farleigh mom jeans (I love those jeans) and my low-top Converse, I felt perfectly comfortable and had no issues sitting for hours getting my back tattooed. Apart from the actual tattoo. That shit hurts.
Post-spine tattoo is DIFFICULT. I can’t wear a bra so I’ve had to masking tape my nipples with everything and try to wear things that don’t really touch it, so it can heal better. I don’t want to show it off because I’m not a tattoo-show-off kind of person, but right now I don’t have a choice really! Healing a back tattoo sucks.
Anyway – the clothes. I went for a cute little polka dot bardot top which hides half of my back tattoo and looks super cute with the other half, and paired it with my Monki dog jeans that I wear literally every second day. I started off wearing my New Look sliders with this but had to change when it started to rain later on; hence why the sliders are in this flatlay & I’m well proud of it so I’m including it.
It initially felt a bit too much for work, I think because of bardot cut, but I have an event later and work is super quiet right now so why the hell not.
Another outfit specifically for me to heal my back tattoo, plus I am kind of enjoying people being able to see it.
I wore this very thin knit grey jumper which has a twisted back, so it barely touches my tattoo. I bought this jumper after I booked my tattoo, knowing how good it would look, and I was not wrong. I kind of love it, and all I did was take mirror pics in the bathrooms at work. I paired it with some black skinny jeans (they feel weird now that I prefer mom jeans) and red belt. Shoe-wise, I paired this with my leopard boots for a bit of excitement. Overall, 10/10 outfit, I feel ace in this even if you can see the masking tape through the jumper and it looks like I have 4 nipples.
I’ve been waiting all week to wear this outfit, but the opportunity just hadn’t presented itself. Friday seemed like a good day, I had plans in the evening so didn’t have to get changed and I’m all about the easy living life.
I bought this Zara dress on Depop, and it’s a size Large but fits me perfectly fine so I’m not sure what’s up with the sizing here. However, it is super duper short so I have to wear a little black bodycon skirt so I don’t flash my knickers to everyone. The forecast said rain so I opted for tights, and I love wearing loose dresses with big boots so it was time to dig out the BooHoo lace ups. Favourite outfit to wear right now!
And there’s my outfits for the week! I hadn’t actually realised how much work it was, plus writing a post over the course of a week is pretty annoying. All you want to do is publish the post, but it’s only Wednesday and you’re still missing the final 2 outfits. For a pre-planner, it’s probably a lot easier, but my planning goes as far as whether or not I’m going to wear a bra.
