Hello and welcome to Blogmas day 9! Is anyone else as impressed as I am that I’ve made it this far? Today I’m gonna run through some of my skincare picks for winter. It’s round about November-time that my skin starts to freak out on me and turn to shit so I need to step up my skincare routine.
This stuff is my saviour, it feels like there’s nothing a little bit of coconut oil can’t fix. I only ever use this at night time, because extra oil on my face during the day is a big no for me. After doing everything else and moisturising the shit out of my face, I like to rub a little bit of coconut oil on any acne marks or dry patches I have, and I find that by morning my skin is incredibly soft and actually feels and looks well moisturised. I don’t use this every single night, it’s more like once every few nights just to give my skin that little bit extra moisture every so often.
NIVEA SOFT CREME
This has been my go-to moisturiser for as long as I can remember, I’ve used a lot of different moisturisers for daytime and nighttime but I always revert back to this one. There’s something so lovely and familiar about the smell to me – admittedly, the smell isn’t something I usually pay a lot of attention to but it helps. It’s a relatively thick-feeling moisturiser so you only need a little bit, this big tub cost me a whole £2 and I just know it’s going to last me ages. It also works well for both day and night, it’s super hydrating so if I want to go all-out at nighttime I will literally just slather it on.
PINK GRAPEFRUIT FACE WASH
I’ve used the pink grapefruit range from — for years and years, they helped me through my acne-ridden teen years like nothing else. I use this face wash in the morning and the evening after cleansing and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and I believe it’s actually helping clear up my yucky winter dry patches and my acne scarring. It also smells heavenly – can’t say the same about the taste unfortunately.
BODY SHOP TEA TREE ANTI BLEMISH SOLUTION
This stuff has been my holy grail for the past few months, the entire Body Shop tea tree range gets a big thumbs up from me. This anti-blemish solution is exactly what I need not just in winter, but all year round. As well as actually clearing up any spots I have, it’s also incredibly moisturising. It looks almost like an oil, but as soon as you put it onto your skin, it just sinks right in. Being an oily skin sufferer, I was incredibly thankful to discover that this didn’t make my skin any oilier than usual, big win from me.
SPA TO YOU CLEANSING BRUSH
This is something that has come in handy a lot over the Autumn/Winter months. Before receiving this in August’s Glossybox, I had never bothered with a cleansing brush – I just couldn’t see why I would need one. But after using this little thing, I couldn’t be without it. My skin gets a lot of dry patches throughout winter, so I use this brush twice a day to just smooth my skin and get rid of those yucky dry patches. I use this with the previously metnioned pink grapefruit facial wash, and the two combined leave me with the softest skin ever. Follow this up with my nighttime skincare routine and I’m golden.
THE BODY SHOP SPICED APPLE HAND CREAM/ZOELLA HUNGRY HANDS
My hands suffer quite badly in the winter time – they’re freezing cold in the summer so if I don’t wear gloves at this time of year, it’s a recipe for disaster. They crack and I get little cuts and dry patches everywhere, so I thought it’s about time that I invest in some decent hand creams. Whilst picking up some other bits in The Body Shop, I noticed the new spiced apple scent they had in. As soon as I smelled it I knew I was buying it – spiced apple is one of my favourite seasonal scents. So is gingerbread – which is where Zoella’s Hungry Hands comes in. It smells exactly like gingerbread and it’s the best thing ever. Both of these help to completely heal my hands and make them smell very Christmassy.
I hope you enjoyed today’s Blogmas post, there’s plenty more where that came from!
