HOW are we at the end of June already?! It’s madness. MADNESS. I feel like it was just yesterday when I wrote my May favourites. Anyway, as youve probably already guessed, this is my June Favourites post! Enjoy!
First thing I’ve been loving throughout the month of June is Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer. I know, I know, bit late to the party with this one. I bought this on the plane on the way out to Italy and it has been a staple in my makeup routine ever since. I honestly think I’ve used this every single day since I got it. It makes contouring SO easy for me (I can’t contour) and it’s just so gorgeous. 10/10 from me.
Another thing I’ve been loving is the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless foundation. I picked this up in the Sephora in Verona alongside Sheer Glow in the shade Santa Fe. It’s a near perfect match to my skin when I have a tan but I’ll have to go pick up a paler shade for when that fades. I won’t say too much about why this is a favourite and Sheer Glow isn’t because a review/comparison post can be found HERE!
The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are probably my go-to lip products for everyday wear. I currently own 3, Amsterdam, Cannes and Stockholm. When I first got them, Cannes was my favourite, it’s a nice nude pink, but currently I’ve been reaching for Stockholm more and more. It’s more browny than Cannes and I honestly didn’t really like the colour at first so it was shoved to the back of my lip product collection. I’ve been layering it over MAC’s Velvet Teddy or Honeylove and it just adds that little bit more lovely nude colouring to the lipstick and I love wearing a nude lip!
Whilst in a shopping centre in Italy I came across a Kiko Milano shop. I’ve never tried any of the makeup from Kiko but I’d heard good things about it, so I picked up two of their eyeshadow singles. The first is a baked eyeshadow and it is so beautiful to look at. They also had the nicest baked bronzer that I stared at for a good 5 minutes before deciding I didn’t need it. Inevitably, it will be getting ordered after my next payday because I’ve now decided I need it.
The second is an amazing and bright orange eyeshadow. When it came to actually putting this on my eyes, I was a bit worried, but it’s such a lovely colour! It’s not stupidly bright, but I wouldn’t go pairing it with red or pink lipstick as that might be a tad too much… Both of these eyeshadows are so pigmented and I think I may have to order a few more!
Going slightly off the beauty topic and I’m adding 2 books to my favourites! I only got these recently so maybe technically they should be next months favourites but I’ve been loving them so much that I just couldn’t leave them out. The first is milk and honey by Rupi Kaur and it’s a selection of poems based on things Kaur has experienced through her life. They are beautiful and heart wrenching to read. I’m not usually big on poetry but I would highly recommend this to anyone!
The second book is We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche. It’s an adaptation of a talk Adiche delivered at a TEDTalks conference and it’s such an interesting read. She talks about her experiences and views on feminism and given that there is such a stigma around feminism at the moment it’s extremely refreshing to read. I felt as though I was reading my own thoughts, just written better. Another book I would recommend to anyone; feminist or not (although everyone should be).
So I think I’ve rambled on enough now. I hope you enjoyed reading about this months favourites, what have you been loving through June?
