I wish I could do just the ‘1 Year of Blogging’ title bit but if you go look at my archive, you’ll see that this blog has been up since 2014. 3 whole years. Kinda…I started this blog back in 2014, posted twice, then left it. Posted twice again in 2015, and again, lost interest. It wasn’t until May 27th 2016 that I got my full mojo back and I’ve been blogging pretty much non stop since. I’ve had a few wobbly bits but out of all my attempts to start a blog, this has definitely been the most successful.
In the past year I’ve worked with several brands – I have been taken advantage of by a few but I think that comes with being a newbie blogger and not really knowing how to deal with brand collaborations. I did write a post on what I’ve learn from that though (cheeky little plug, don’t mind me) which you can find HERE – I hope it helps some other people with the tricky topic of brand collabs.
The thing that sticks out most to me throughout my time as a blogger is the people I’ve met and made friends with since starting. The first was MARIA, who inspired me to start a blog and has been the best help with any of my technical related problems. I met her a few weeks ago and it was really weird to meet an internet friend in real life, but it was also super cool and she looks exactly like her pictures (which was the first thing I said to her).
Another person that stands out massively to me is KATIE. I hadn’t really had a full conversation with her until a few weeks ago when we were added to the same Whatsapp group chat (will several other amazing ladies) but her name would always pop up on my Twitter. Katie has been so supportive and I probably couldn’t have coped over the last few weeks without her – she is my rock and I have nothing but infinite amounts of love for her.
There are so many more people that I want to mention, but I don’t want this to turn into a ‘look at THIS blogger’ kind of post. The people that have made a difference to my blogging life and who I consider my friends should know who they are, I hope. But if you don’t, I’ll link everyone down the bottom. Because I want you to know that you have helped me and I appreciate you.
I’ve been to one event, which I travelled all the way down to London for. If that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is. I wrote about the post HERE and I stand by what I said, a Blogosphere event was the perfect first event to attend. Everyone was so lovely and I’m desperate to attend more events, but it just isn’t feasible for me to travel down to London all the time.
In my next year, I really want to up my game. I’m finally getting into a blogging schedule that I hope I can continue to maintain; I’ve never really had a schedule and sticking to it is fun for the moment, but I have no doubt that it’ll get incredibly stressful as I get busier. I want to continue to grow my audience and produce content that I love. I’ve never been in a better place in terms of my blog, I’m loving what I’m producing and I want to keep going forever.
Thank you to everyone who has read my blog and supported me over the past year. I am forever grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the amazing people I’ve met. The friends I’ve made are what makes blogging so important to me – you all know who you are.
When did you start your blog?
