I actually feel a little bit sick writing this because HOW is it July already?! It’s almost time for me to start the annoying birthday countdown (16th of October just in case you were wondering). I feel like my favourites posts might start to become a little sparse since I am now going on a spending ban (telling everyone so I can’t break the ban) but we’ll see how it goes!
First up is Lush’s Love Lettuce face mask. I’ve never actually tried any Lush face masks before – I have no idea why because I love the all natural concept behind them. So I went in and spoke to one of the assistants in there, and she was so lovely! I told her I wanted to even out my skin tone and draw out any impurities, and Love Lettuce was what she gave me.
I’ve been using this regularly and I really think it’s made a huge difference to my skin tone. That said, I have been using quite a few new products on my face so I don’t know if that’s an effect of the face mask or something else, but I’m enjoying it anyway. It smells like lavender and it feels so refreshing on; it looks slightly weird. Like you’ve just put slightly discoloured wet, muddy gravel on your face. But it’s nice! It works!
The next thing I’ve been loving was actually featured in my Products I Wont Repurchase post…oops. It’s the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. I’m not sure why I was so quick to dismiss this, I started using it again over the past week or so because my skin broke out (damn hormones amirite) and it has actually helped enormously! So I almost feel like I should remove it from the post it was featured in where I trashed it…I just take a cotton bud and dip it into the pink dusty stuff at the bottom and dab it on any spots that I have, and I find that it’s visibly reduced in size by the morning. I’m still trying to find a product that reduces redness, suggestions would be very welcome!
I’ve really been loving combining highlighters throughout July for the ultimate princess glow. The two I tend to combine the most are theBalm’s Mary-Loumanizer and Becca’s Opal. At first I was a little unsure about Opal because it would always show up too dark round my temples and the top of my cheekbones, but I’ve started to put Opal on first, blend it into my bronzer and blusher, then put Mary-Loumanizer on top. And oh my god, the glow is intense. I love it so much, and I’m not even ashamed to say I use this combo for my everyday look. Who says I can’t shine like a million stars when I’m at work? Although if anything, it’s become a beacon for the creepy old men to come over and hit on me. My highlight attracts weirdos.
I purchased Touche Eclat on the plane on the way home from Italy, and for a while I used it as a blemish-covering concealer and was less than impressed. But since transitioning and using it primarily as an under eye concealer, I’ve been in love. It’s so brightening and has a hint of highlight in it too, it looks so pretty and actually covers my horrendous undereye bags! Yay for leftover euros!
So I know that these have been raved about in quite a lot of my posts but I just love them. I went off them slightly not that long ago but I’ve been rekindling my love for them in July. My particular favourite right now is Cannes – a gorgeous pink but not too ‘out-there’ for everyday wear. I actually wear it to work most days!
How gorgeous is Double Wear in photos?! I don’t think I’ve mentioned this on my blog yet – it took a back seat once I purchased my NARS foundations. Anyway, I bought this in duty free at the airport before I went on holiday and fell in love. I wore this everyday until I bought the NARS goodies – then poor old Double Wear was shunned to the back of my dressing table. But recently, since I’ve been getting paler, I’ve been reaching for this more and more. I got it in the shade 1N2 which is Ecru (I was matched to Cool Bone but I wanted to go a shade darker as I’d get a tan on holiday) and as my tan is fading, it’s a perfect match. It’s one of the only foundations that lasts on my face and stays looking good all day. The oiliness on my chin shows through a tiny bit, but that’s easily fixed. I have nothing but good things to say about this foundation!
So I think that’s mostly everything I’ve been loving this month! I feel like these posts may start to dwindle in content a little given the spending ban I have currently put myself on, so I won’t be able to try many new products. Unless anyone wants to send me anything *hint hint* (joking).
